Ms. document: "An Account of the Charges of Friends' horses," dated 30 June 1733 and approved and countersigned by John Jones and John Bringhurst. The records appear to cover the period 1729-1733. William Tidmarsh signed on 22 July 1733 to indicate receipt of payment from Israel Pemberton.

The Society of Friends (or 'Quakers') was formed by George Fox (1624-1691), a shoemaker from Nottingham. In the 1640s Fox travelled throughout England delivering sermons in which he argued that individuals could have direct access to God without the need for churches, priests or other aspects of the established Church.
